On December 3, the 2023 Shanghai "Magnolia Memorial Award" award ceremony was held in Shanghai, awarding 50 outstanding foreign nationals from 15 countries including Armenia, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, the Netherlands, Romania, Singapore, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States received this honour. Kong Fu'an, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, and leaders of some member units of the External Commendation Joint Meeting awarded medals and certificates to the award-winning foreigners.
This year's 50 winners come from the fields of economy and trade, finance, technology, shipping, education, medical care, culture and other fields. Over the years, they have given full play to their own advantages and made outstanding contributions in different positions to Shanghai's deepening of the construction of "five centres", strengthening of "four major functions", and promoting high-level reform and opening up and high-quality development. They are not only witnesses of Shanghai's development and construction, but also active participants and promoters. The Shanghai Municipal Government expresses its gratitude for their efforts and hopes that by awarding the Magnolia series of awards, more foreign talents will be encouraged to come to Shanghai, stay in Shanghai, and integrate into Shanghai, and help Shanghai accelerate the construction of a modern socialist international metropolis with world influence.
