The MNCs in Shanghai mainly operate in the key industries in the city's development roadmap, represented by biophar-maceuticals, smart manufacturing, integrated circuits, new materials, digital information and artificial intelligence.
In Shanghai, foreign-invested R&D centers have con-centrated in high-tech industries, such as equipment manufacturing, biopharmaceutical, chemical manufac-turing and electronic information. Among them, the biopharmaceutical industry has the highest concentra-tion of foreign-invested R&D centers.
Increasingly more multinational companies base their research hubs in Shanghai that are capable of developing new products for Asia and beyond.
