Future Resonance – ShanghaiEye Night, a Shanghai city promotion and China-US people-to-people exchange event, was held in Washington, D.C. on Oct 3, featuring interactive displays, an outdoor concert, and a dialogue session.
At an afternoon carnival on the National Mall, visitors explored displays featuring technological innovations, contemporary Chinese cultural and creative products, goods from time-honored Shanghai brands, and intangible cultural heritage. Many residents said they hoped to visit Shanghai and explore the city in the future.
At sunset, an outdoor concert was held with the United States Capitol Building in the background. One Voice Children's Choir and the Manhattan Philharmonic performed a song celebrating friendship between China and the US.
Later that evening, nearly 100 representatives from the business, government, technology, culture, and arts sectors, along with young people from both countries, attended the "ShanghaiEye Night" dialogue.
An accompanying exhibition of 40 photographs highlighted "Shanghai moments" in China-US diplomatic exchanges and the city's development.
Sean Stein, president of the US-China Business Council, said the continued increase in US companies investing in Shanghai showed the US business community's confidence in the city's development despite changes in the external environment.
The event was held under the guidance of the Information Office of the Shanghai Municipal Government.
