Shanghai's ports recorded more than 30 million inbound and outbound passenger trips this year as of Sept 9, with 28.24 million of those trips made through Pudong and Hongqiao international airports.

Among the inbound trips, 4.73 million were made by foreign nationals, up 19 percent year-on-year. Visa-free entries, including those under the 240-hour visa-free transit policy, totaled 3.14 million, accounting for 66 percent of all foreign arrivals.

To manage the continued growth in passenger traffic, border inspection authorities have strengthened passenger-flow monitoring and adjusted staffing accordingly. During peak periods, including the summer travel season and major exhibitions, additional inspection lanes have been opened, and on-site guidance has been strengthened.

Authorities have further promoted online submission of arrival cards for foreign nationals and provided additional assistance to older adults, children, pregnant women, people with disabilities, and travelers with health conditions.
