Pudong airport ranked highest in connectivity in Asia-Pacific

Shanghai Pudong International Airport ranked first in connectivity among airports across the Asia-Pacific region, according to the Air Connectivity Ranking 2025, issued by Airports Council International Asia-Pacific & Middle East on Sept 7.

The report also identified Pudong as the airport that improved its connectivity the most in the region.

Shanghai aims to comprehensively enhance its capacity and capabilities as an international aviation hub during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30), according to the city's guideline for building an international shipping center over the next five years.

As of 2025, Pudong airport operated regular flights to 291 destinations in 53 countries, served more than 84.99 million passenger trips, and handled over 4.09 million metric tons of cargo-and-mail throughput.

In 2025, 110 airlines operated scheduled flights at the airport. Since last year, 13 passenger and cargo carriers have been added, including Air Serbia, Jeju Air, Air Astana, and Mediterranean Airlines.

Using indicators such as network scale, destination economic significance, connectivity quality, and efficiency, the Air Connectivity Ranking 2025 evaluates the connectivity of 315 airports across the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.
