Aoqun Supply Chain has recently launched the first public bonded food processing warehouse covering a full range of temperature zones at Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area.
The famous Italian chocolate brand Venchi will partner with Aoqun to provide bonded storage and further processing of bulk candies and chocolates at the warehouse's GMP-compliant processing facility.
Stefano Giani, chief operating officer of Venchi, noted that the company places stringent requirements regarding temperature control and compliance for its chocolate products. Its decision to establish operations in the Yangshan bonded zone reflects its confidence in China's innovative model for bonded food supply chains.
Under the traditional model, imported food must typically clear customs before entering domestic processing, tying up capital for longer periods and adding to logistics costs. Aoqun's integrated bonded model allows companies to store and further process imported food under customs supervision, then release it in batches according to market demand. This approach increases distribution efficiency in the Asia-Pacific markets while significantly reducing companies' operating costs.
In recent years, Lin-gang has been actively developing new models of bonded trade. Lindt's chocolate repackaging and logistics distribution center began operations here in July 2024, enabling its chocolates to reach consumers across the Asia-Pacific region more than four months sooner.
