The 2026 Zhangjiang Pharmaceutical Valley Conference & Shanghai International Biomedical Industry Week, also known as BioShanghai Week, will take place in Pudong New Area from Sept 17 to 20.
Since its 2021 debut, the event has grown into Shanghai's flagship platform for biopharma innovation exchange, drawing Nobel, Lasker and Albany Prize laureates, academicians, and representatives from leading pharmaceutical firms, investors and international organizations.
This year, the event will center on five themes — innovation integration, clinical translation, capital empowerment, ecosystem services, and coordinated medicine-insurance-pharmacy development — with a strong emphasis on AI-enabled drug discovery, design and manufacturing.
Frontier fields such as cell and gene therapy, mRNA, brain-computer interfaces and antibody-drug conjugates will be discussed, alongside priority topics such as business development, mergers and acquisitions, newly created companies, and co-development and co-commercialization models.
China's national ministries will again release policy updates and offer insights on industry trends. Pudong New Area will host a dedicated promotional session showcasing its industry ecosystem and investment opportunities.
Country-specific sessions covering the US, UK, Ireland, Australia and Southeast Asia are planned. A UK life sciences and healthcare innovation forum on Sept 18 will be highlighted, featuring the participation of the UK's BioIndustry Association, MedCity and other institutions.
Global bodies including the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, US Program for Appropriate Technology in Health, and the College of American Pathologists will also hold theme-based activities.
