JSD Space, a new space serving the jewelry and fashion sectors, opened on Aug 12 at the Bund Finance Center in Shanghai.
Located on the 26th floor of Building S2 in BFC's South Zone, JSD Space integrates seven core functions: government services, bonded display, business discussions, creative design, event programming, trading, and custom jewelry services. The space also provides intellectual property protection and international jewelry testing and certification.
Designed to empower independent designers and jewelry brands, the venue supports them in developing original creations, honing their craftsmanship, and bringing their work to the Shanghai market.
An international jewelry art group exhibition also opened at JSD Space on Aug 12 and will run through Nov 10. Curated in five themed sections, the exhibition presents the talents of both Chinese artisans and international jewelry designers. It highlights styles and techniques such as precious-metal craftsmanship, innovative material combinations, traditional Chinese gold-carving techniques, and contemporary international jewelry design.
The first section of the exhibition, which launched on Aug 12, featured artists Austy Lee and Awin Siu, who shared their creative approaches and perspectives on jewelry culture with visitors.
From Aug 19 to 23, jewelry designer Karen Suen will collaborate with Haoyang Art Jewels on an exhibition exploring the innovative combination of titanium, colored via a high-temperature oxidation process, and natural pearls.
From Sept 1 to 20, gold-carving master Wu Ching will present an exhibition of works crafted from 99.99 percent pure gold and demonstrate gold-carving techniques, including the intricate high-temperature fusion process at 1,200 C.
From Oct 10 to 15, works by contemporary jewelry designers from overseas will take center stage.
In early November, JSD Space will host a special exhibition and consumer promotion program in tandem with the ninth China International Import Expo.
