Pujiang Innovation Forum 2026 to Open in Shanghai on September 11th

In this golden September, the world’s leading minds in sci-tech innovation will once again converge on the banks of the Huangpu River. 

The 19th Pujiang Innovation Forum 2026, co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, will be held in Shanghai from September 11th to 14th.

Under the yearly theme “Sharing Innovation and Shaping the Future: The Mission of the Global Sci-Tech Community amid a New Round of Sci-Tech Revolution,” the Forum will explore ways to adapt to evolving research paradigms and foster an open, fair, just, nondiscriminatory environment for sci-tech development; deepen collaboration and joint research to tackle major global challenges; advance basic science and future industries so that innovation benefits people in all countries; and improve global governance of science and technology and ensure that sci-tech innovation advances in ways that contribute to the progress of human civilization.

The Forum welcomes the Republic of South Africa as the Country of Honor and Hunan Province as the Province of Honor. It will feature a series of “1+1+24+N” events, consisting of an Opening Ceremony, a Main Forum, 24 sub-forums, and N side activities, including Youth Innovation Hub(Y-HUBS) and Results Release.

Committed to open collaboration and deepening innovation partnerships, the Forum aims to connect global expertise, build consensus on innovation, and bring together top scientists, leading entrepreneurs, founders, investors, and policymakers across the world to forge an innovation cooperation network. It will also focus on basic research and future industries, covering key topics including interdisciplinary research, AI for Science, bio-manufacturing, quantum intelligent computing, brain-inspired intelligence, commercial aerospace, nuclear fusion energy, and advanced materials to inspire fresh thinking. In addition, the Forum will also encourage the spirit of innovation and pool together the voices of young talent, offering them a platform to showcase their abilities and engage in-depth exchanges, thereby unleashing their entrepreneurial and innovative potential and injecting vitality into the global scitech community.

During the Forum, important events including the High-Level Conference on International Cooperation in Open Science, the WeStart Entrepreneurial Investment Conference, and the InnoMatch Tech-Matching Fair will run concurrently in Shanghai.
