Shanghai Unveils AI Agents, Industry Standards as WAIC Ends

A batch of new AI agents and technical standards debuted at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC 2026), which concluded this week in Shanghai, signaling a major boost for the sustainable and intelligent development of the city's industrial and information sectors.

During the four-day event, Shanghai unveiled its AI+ Energy-Carbon Digital Intelligence Zone and Green Manufacturing Agent, showcasing local efforts to leverage AI for green, low-carbon industrial transformations. Benchmarked against national green factory evaluation standards, the Green Manufacturing Agent offers enterprise-level, end-to-end management services.

Notably, AI capabilities are also driving the development of a national-level zero-carbon park in the Lingang Special Area, targeting ambitious milestones, including an over 90 percent reduction in carbon emissions per unit of energy consumption and a 92 percent clean energy share.

To strengthen data infrastructure, Shanghai upgraded its Public Service Platform for Industrial Corpus Operations. The enhanced platform offers end-to-end capabilities spanning planning, product design and data engineering implementation – effectively converting implicit expert knowledge into actionable and standardized data assets, according to Shanghai Kupas Technology Co, a major initiator of the platform.

The company also launched an enterprise corpas platform with 15 new standards, spanning key sectors such as high-end equipment, logistics, healthcare, steel and synthetic data. These standards cover the complete data lifecycle – from collection and cleaning to labeling, evaluation, and operational management.
