A batch of cross-border export goods arrived at Yangshan Port on June 26 after completing transit customs declarations at the Fengxian Comprehensive Bonded Zone's Cross-border E-commerce Maritime Export Pre-Warehouse.

These goods were set to be shipped from Shanghai to the United States, marking the successful testing of the city's first maritime export pre-warehouse for cross-border e-commerce.

Like pre-positioned inventory in retail, the model trades space for time, extending a familiar efficiency logic to cross-border shipping.

As an important node extending Shanghai's port functions inland, the warehouse will serve as a maritime export channel linking Fengxian district with the region's cross-border e-commerce sector. Through digital supervision, it will help improve coordinated management and support market entities.

The initiative provides enterprises with efficient, low-cost, one-stop services for overseas shipping, supporting the development of the cross-border e-commerce sector in the Yangtze River Delta region.

After it begins formal operations, the warehouse will rely on a multi-party data exchange platform and digital in-transit supervision to build a smart regulatory system with full-process control, full-chain traceability, comprehensive risk alerts, closed-loop management, and full visibility of all elements.

The new model will allow goods to be declared in one place, inspected more conveniently, and released directly, creating a more efficient cross-border logistics model.

Fengxian will attract more cross-border e-commerce cargo and expand new foreign trade models, supporting regional trade growth and Shanghai's role as an international shipping and trade center.
