Nearly 300 enterprises and organizations from 12 countries and regions showcased low-carbon technologies, services and solutions at the 2026 Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo in Technologies, Products and Achievements, held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from June 10 to 12. It was the fourth edition of the expo.

The three-day event focused on zero-carbon transformation and the factors enabling it. The exhibition was organized into six main sections: energy transition, energy efficiency, the circular economy, low-carbon services, low-carbon transport, and practical exploration.

Exhibitors presented a broad range of practical innovations, including smart grids, energy storage technologies, new energy vehicles, and carbon management services to support the green transition in industry and daily life.

For the first time, the expo designated a featured guest region, with the Inner Mongolia autonomous region taking the role and showcasing pilot programs and achievements based on its renewable energy and ecological resources.

The expo also featured four major themed activities covering zero-carbon park development, green overseas expansion, the circular economy, and energy transition, including sustainable fuels. It also held one-on-one business matchmaking sessions.

A total of 11 benchmark cases of zero-carbon park development from provincial-level regions were showcased to provide references for similar projects nationwide.

L'Oreal and Ant Group announced a long-term strategic partnership on sustainability and jointly launched the "Join the Refill Movement" declaration on sustainable consumption and green lifestyles during the expo on June 10.

Lan Zhenzhen, chief corporate affairs and engagement officer of L'Oreal North Asia and China, said the partnership is a natural fit. "We want every moment of being moved by beauty to become an action for the planet," she added.

More than 1,000 L'Oreal beauty products have received green labels under the Ant Group and Tmall certification systems, while around 30 million Ant Forest users have joined a campaign encouraging the use of refill products.

JeeSeon Park, chief sustainability officer of L'Oreal North Asia and China, said consumers would naturally stick with green choices when they were convenient, accessible, and genuinely rewarding, adding that promoting sustainable consumption requires integrating sustainability into daily life.

Sabrina Peng, senior vice-president and chief sustainability officer of Ant Group, said the collaboration connects eco-friendly goods with digital platforms to create more value for consumers.

At the expo, Shenergy Group presented its green methanol production chain and related technological achievements.

Shanghai's 100,000-metric-ton green methanol project began operation in December 2025 after obtaining international sustainability certifications and provides green fuel for ocean-going vessels at Shanghai Port.

A biomethane project operated by the firm reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 3,800 metric tons annually and received ISCC EU and ISCC PLUS certifications in December 2024.

Construction of an offshore wind-powered hydrogen production platform was completed in May, and offshore demonstration operations are expected to begin before the end of the year.

A joint laboratory project to convert carbon dioxide captured from the flue gas of a coal-fired power plant into methanol passed a 72-hour operational test in January 2025.
