The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's Standardization Technical Committee on Science and Technology Services held its inaugural Standards Week event in Shanghai from April 16 to 18, aiming to foster the high-quality development of the science and technology services sector.
The event marked the launch of preparatory work for the Science and Technology Services (Yangtze River Delta) Standards Research Institute. The YRD region, a key hub for tech service growth, is rich in innovation, industrial resources, and talent.
MIIT emphasized its commitment to strengthening standardization guidance, managing standards throughout their lifecycle, promoting the comprehensive development of standard systems, and accelerating the creation of a robust science and technology service standard framework.
Future efforts will focus on cultivating high-level science and technology service organizations, driving reforms to unify the national technology market, and expanding the pool of tech managers.
During the event, four Shanghai-based entities — ATLATL Innovation Center, Zhangjiang Hi-Tech 895 Incubator, Xinze Zhixing Port Incubator, and Shanghai Foundation Model Innovation Center — were among the first to receive MIIT's "Excellence-level Incubator" designation.
The event also saw the establishment of six standards working groups under the committee and the announcement of key standards to be developed in 2026.
In recent years, Shanghai has promoted standardization and innovation through initiatives such as the implementation plan to enhance interaction between standardization, technological innovation, and industrial development. Additionally, 37 tech standard innovation bases and centers have been established in the city.
