Shanghai launched "Shanghai Unlock", a program designed to help international residents integrate into the city, with its first event held in Jing'an district on March 20.

The initiative, jointly organized by the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Talent Work, the Foreign Affairs Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government, and multiple Jing'an district authorities, features a series of workshops addressing the most common needs of expatriates in Shanghai.

The program will cover 10 key themes, including work and residence permits, permanent residence applications, business start-up procedures, employment for foreign students, and social integration, with the aim of removing barriers international residents face in Shanghai.

Mo Liangjin, head of the organization department of CPC Jing'an district committee, said the district is committed to creating a work and living environment that meets international standards.

He added that the launch of the workshops marks a further step in Jing'an's efforts to improve its international talent services.

The inaugural session focused on work permits, work visas, and residence permits, providing detailed explanations of the application processes and required documents.

Notably, the program's content and format incorporated feedback from Jing'an's international experience ambassadors and expatriates across various sectors.

To enhance accessibility, the program offers face-to-face sessions with Q&A segments, effectively turning workshops into hands-on service points, alongside online channels for inquiries and feedback.

"Shanghai Unlock" aims to create a comprehensive service loop integrating workshops, consultations, and feedback mechanisms to better serve the international community.

Upcoming session:

The second "Shanghai Unlock" session, scheduled for April, will focus on applications for permanent residence ID cards for foreigners.
