As Shanghai's global shipping links continue to expand, Lin-gang Special Area's maritime trade is booming.

In the first two months of 2026, 7,281 calls were made by international vessels entering and leaving Shanghai, up 2.4 percent year-on-year, marking the highest figure ever recorded for the period.

The growth was particularly visible in Lin-gang during the Spring Festival period, when Shanghai Nangang Terminal saw five foreign-trade ro-on/ro-off (Ro-Ro) vessels berth simultaneously on Feb 21.

To meet surging demand for new energy vehicle exports, Yangshan Customs opened a dedicated channel at the terminal. By using visualized supervision technology to embed customs oversight into the busy logistics chain, the move has significantly improved vehicle turnover and export efficiency.

Thanks to these streamlined measures, Nangang Terminal alone handled 163,000 import and export vehicles in the first two months of this year, more than double the volume from the same period last year.

March has brought fresh eco-friendly milestones. The methanol bunkering vessel Hai Gang Zhi Yuan delivered 3,640 metric tons of green methanol produced in China to CMA CGM Osmium, a container ship from Malta, at Yangshan Deep-Water Port on March 5 — setting a new national record for the largest single ship-to-ship transfer of domestically produced green methanol.
