A China-South Korea innovation and entrepreneurship forum convened in Shanghai on Jan 7, bringing together startups, investors, and technology companies from both countries to explore cooperation opportunities in emerging technologies and innovation-driven industries.
Discussions focused on artificial intelligence, smart hardware, medical technology, and semiconductor applications. Participants exchanged views on how closer collaboration could help startups better align technology strengths with market demand and expand their global reach.
Lee Jae-myung, president of South Korea, attended the event and shared his views on innovation cooperation, encouraging more frequent exchanges between entrepreneurs from China and South Korea and greater interaction between the two countries' startup ecosystems.
Beyond the forum, exchanges extended into consumer sectors. On the same day, a pop-up event featuring more than 50 South Korean beauty brands was held in Shanghai. Exhibitors said Shanghai is widely regarded as a key entry point for building brand recognition and expanding across the Chinese market.
Many participating companies noted that Shanghai's connectivity, youthful consumer base, and vibrant business environment make it a preferred destination for international brands and startups seeking long-term growth in China.
