Since China launched its online arrival card filing system a month ago, Shanghai's airports have recorded more than 260,000 foreign arrivals through the new digital platform as of Dec 20, accounting for roughly half of all eligible arrivals.
At the arrival area of Hongqiao International Airport, a dedicated service zone provides tablets and high-speed Wi-Fi for passengers to complete the arrival card. Multilingual volunteers are on site to assist travelers and help streamline the process.
The Hongqiao Border Inspection Station has optimized workflows in response to feedback from passengers and airlines, improving network stability, multilingual support, and staff training. It will continue to promote the new system and refine related measures to further enhance efficiency.
In response to reports of fraudulent websites charging fees for arrival card services, Shanghai immigration inspection authorities stressed that online arrival card filling is free of charge. Travelers are advised to use only official channels or the authorized QR code.
