The World Seafood Shanghai Exhibition 2025 was held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from Aug 27 to 29, featuring over 10,000 seafood products from more than 30 countries and regions.
The three-day event shed a spotlight on global seafood trends, from enduring favorites like salmon and prawns to innovative offerings and sustainable solutions.
Norway was well-represented with eight companies showcasing Atlantic salmon, cold-water prawns, Greenland halibut, and redfish.
According to the Norwegian Seafood Council, salmon exports to China increased by 122 percent in the first seven months this year, reaching 52,069 tonnes valued at 4.67 billion Norwegian kroner (NOK) ($467 million).
Cold-water prawn exports surged 603 percent to 4,952 tons, worth 258 million NOK, while Greenland halibut and redfish exports climbed 45 percent and 82 percent, respectively.
Beyond Norway, exhibitors from across the globe highlighted their own specialties, and the exhibition served as a key platform connecting international suppliers with Chinese importers, distributors, and food service providers.
