Wusongkou cruise terminal sees record single-day passenger throughput

The Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal in Baoshan district recorded its highest single-day passenger throughput since it resumed operations, as three cruise ships docked and launched home port operations on June 24.

The terminal processed more than 22,000 passenger entries and exits from the three vessels, namely Costa Serena, Spectrum of the Seas, and Adora Magic City.

This was Costa Serena's first arrival in China. The cruise ship offers multi-homeport boarding, enabling tourists to embark from Shanghai, Japan's Fukuoka, or South Korea’s Jeju Island.

While Spectrum of the Seas continues to attract tourists with its premium amenities and services, Adora Magic City entertained passengers with a series of activities themed on Ne Zha, the protagonist of the blockbuster Chinese animated film Ne Zha 2.

The terminal is also set to welcome MSC Bellissima, which will start its three-month homeport deployment on July 13. It plans to offer a Lego-themed parade at sea — the first of its kind on the Chinese mainland.

On July 24, Adora Magic City will launch a new nine-day itinerary offering an in-depth travel experience to Japan and South Korea.

With over 230 cruise ships expected to dock at the terminal in 2025, the Baoshan district authority has coordinated with related departments such as the customs and maritime bureaus to ensure smooth berthing operations.

Measures such as dispatching personnel skilled in multiple languages at key service stations and setting up "green channels" for supplies, have been taken to enhance the travel experience of international visitors.

Meanwhile, the Shanghai International Cruise Tourism Resort is gearing up to host a cruise festival for tourists encompassing water activities, beer festivals, and child-friendly entertainment options.

There will also be music performances and outdoor movie screenings at the lighthouse camp, where tourists, especially couples, can spend a romantic summer night.
