Algeria's state-owned carrier Air Algerie launched direct flights between Algiers and Shanghai on Monday, expanding its presence in China and strengthening air connectivity between the two countries, according to Algeria Press Service.
The new route operates three times a week, according to the airline. Shanghai is the carrier's third destination in China, after Beijing and Guangzhou, offering additional options for passenger travel and cargo transport.
Acting sales and network director at Air Algerie Sid Ahmed Dekkouk said the service was part of the company's plan to expand its international network, particularly in Asia.
The new Shanghai service is expected to facilitate exchanges between Algeria and China, particularly for businesses, traders and university students.
