GENERAL SITUATION OF XUHUI
Xuhui is located in southwest of downtown Shanghai. It covers a total area of 54.93 square kilometers with 12 sub-districts and one town, with a resident population of 1109700.Xuhui District is adjacent to Huangpu District in the east by South Shaanxi Road and Rihui Port, to Pudong New Area in the southwest by Huangpu River, to Minhang District in the south by Dingpu River and Hongmei Road, and to Jingan District and Changning District in the north by Changle Road and West Huaihai Road.Xuhui District serves as the main passage to Songjiang District, Jinshan District, Qingpu District and Fengxian District, and also the inland gateway to Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province, Jiangxi Province, Fujian Province and Anhui Province. It takes less than one hour’s drive to major cities in Yangtze River Delta, such as Hangzhou, Ningbo, Jiaxing, Wuxi and Suzho city.
SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION OF XUHUI
Xuhui District is in line with the optimization and adjustment of Shanghais spatial layout. In accordance with the requirements of strengthening the intensive and economical use of land resources, deepening the development of urban connotation and promoting the integrated development of industry and city, it scientifically arranges the production space, living space and ecological space of the whole district, and constructs the urban development pattern of "one axis, one belt and seven areas".
One axis—Xuhui North and South balanced development axis: Starting from Central Huaihai Road, going through Hengshan Road, Xujiahui, (North) Caoxi Road, to the intersection of Caobao Road and Humin Road, extending to Caohejing Hi-Tec Park on the west along with Caobao Road, and to Huajing on the south along with Humin Road, Shanghai South Rialway Station and the newly built metro line 15. This development axis is the District’s arterial traffic, as well as the functional axis to expand the south part’s economic and social function.
One belt—Xuhui’s river waterfront development belt: As an important part of Huangpu river waterfront, this belt goes through the Bund, the South Bund and Minhang river waterfront, and connects Fenglin, Longhua and Huajing, forming a 11.2 kilometers waterfront development belt.

Xujiahui international business core zone

It has 86 top scientific research institutions, including Shanghai Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Shanghai Academy of Sciences. There are 5 national key cultural relics protection units, such as Xujiahui Catholic Church, Song Qinglings former residence and 24 municipal cultural relics protection units, including Huang Xings former residence, clove garden, Bajins former residence, Sheng Xuanhuais residence and Zhang Yuanjis former residence.
