Food producers and operators are allowed to resell or donate foods within the shelf life and without food safety problems to welfare agencies. In addition, food producers can also sell or donate foods do not meet the food safety standards within the shelf life provided that remedial measures are taken to ensure food safety.
Shanghai includes high-risk food production and operation enterprises, important food production and operation fields related to people's livelihood, food fields with local characteristics, and key fields of food production technology application research and innovation into the scope of the food safety liability insurance pilot. Shanghai also encourages other food producers and operators to cover food safety liability insurance.
Food safety office of Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui have signed a cooperation agreement to jointly plan the construction, strengthen the technical support for and perfect the supervision mechanism of the regional food safety information traceability system, thus promoting the social governance of food safety information traceability. In the meantime, active suggestion is put forward to use the same traceability system nationwide.
These are clearly specified in Regulations of Shanghai Municipality on Food Safety and Measures for the Administration of Food Safety Knowledge Training and Assessment for Food Employees in Shanghai.
The national food safety standard for compound seasoning was enacted in June 2018 and will be implemented since December 2019. Then, Shanghai's local standard regarding this will be abolished and the national standard will prevail.
